The Boat House is a beach-side gem at the Balmoral Beach, one of my favourite beaches. It’s hard not to fall in love with this charming establishment filled with abundance of exotic flowers, fresh fruits and the soothing seaside breeze.

What I loved: The location. The atmosphere. The chips & freshly squeezed juice.
Will I come back: Yes.
Tables are grabbed on a first-come-first-served basis. You do need to have a bit of patience as it’s incredibly busy on weekends (and not all tables are shaded).
The tables along the side outdoor deck looks directly across the Balmoral Beach beach pool – the part of the ocean enclosed by shark nets and a broad walk. Click [here] to see my Balmoral Beach post for more photos of the beach and the ocean pool.
Boat House’s lunch menu (from midday till 3pm).
The food here is pretty pricey, but it’s somewhat justifiable by the location, atmosphere and portion of the meals.
Glorious food just keeps rolling out from the kitchen.
There’s no table service – orders are placed and paid for at the counter. The daily desserts are in the glass display at the counter waiting to be picked up by the hungry beach-goers.
Fresh juice bar!
What beats a glass of freshly squeezed fruit juice on a hot summer day? Ok, a cocktail or a glass of sparkling maybe…, And yes, they do have wine.
The bar is at the back, and orders can be placed here separately from the main queue at the front.
Another drinks menu that they have.
Whole coconut = L-O-V-E. The pineapple juice was a delight.
The smoothies, not so much.
Cute tap water station and nautical cups.
Boathouse Club Sandwich (chicken, lettuce, relish + hand cut crisps), $24. It’s like chicken salad wrapped in flat bread – it’s light but very filling.
Burger (beef, sharp cheddar, grilled onions, pickles, aioli, served with chips), $24. The relish that came with the chips was amazing.
They were kind enough to fix a vegetarian burger for L, by replacing the beef with a big wad of guacamole. Yum.
Fried Seafood (squid, whitebait, anchovies, zucchini, lime mayo), $23.
Scones on the house:)
