John Smith is definitely the top three generous cafes in Sydney in terms of the serving size. Come hungry, leave happy.

What I love: The portion – value for money
Will I come back: Maybe.
Even before I noticed its outstanding reviews and rating on Urbanspoon, the bronze plaque had caught my attention every time we drove past this street.
John Smith’s menu.
Braised pulled pork pannini with coriander and mango chutney, Swiss cheese, cabbage slaw, $12.
I couldn’t believe how big the portion was for $12! Definitely money for value. I was afraid that it was going to be too salty (like most pulled pork that I have had in Sydney), but this was just right for me.
Lemon pepper chicken brioche with Swiss cheese, lime and chilli aioli, greens, $12.
Jen’s burger was also gigantic with a lot of chicken pieces. The chilli aioli was delightful.
Poached eggs, zucchini, sweet potato frittata with peperonata salsa verde, wasabi peas, $16. This is a vegetarian dish.
I like the unusual use of wasabi peas. Although, L thought the frittata was a little dry (but she did ask them to leave the goat cheese out as she is not a fan, not sure if it’s why that made it dry). The portion of the food was significantly smaller compared to ours, yet the price was dearer.
Cappuccino ($3.5) and Brewed Chai ($4).
The Coffee Wheel at the cafe showing its dedication to good coffee.
It’s brilliant to have the cronuts and dessert as the centerpiece of the cafe.
Colourful cronuts. Jen and I really struggled to finish our lunch so we decided to pack two to take away. Most of the more popular flavours were already gone by the time we finished our lunch at around 2:30pm.
Grapefruit cronut. I liked the grapefruit flavoured (albeit subtle) pink sugar coating.
Coconut citrus cake. Pretty.

I like the value and look at those cronuts!
