Bread & Circus is another brunch hotspot in Alexandria that offers abundance of food and hipster-ness on a plate. Just when I was wondering why I felt an almost instant affection with this cafe – I realised, it’s got fifty shades of my favourite colour (pink, that is) in every corner! Subliminally I’d already given Bread & Circus the nod of approval before I even began my lunch.

What I loved: The relaxing atmosphere and pink plates.
Will I come back: Maybe.
Pink, pink, pink. Like.
We came at around 12pm on a Sunday and were greeted with this long queue. We waited about 25 minutes before we sat down (it would’ve been longer if the two groups in front of us didn’t give us half way).
The menu.
Breakfast w/ gwyneth (sauteed white quinoa, kale and mixed greens w/ garlic and chili under two fried biodynaamic eggs), $20. The quinoa with sprinkles of fresh chili tasted very much like Nasi Goreng. The fried eggs that were golden on one side were very nicely done.
Paremesan not-so-scrambled eggs, $20. Semi-runny, kinda-scrambled eggs went perfectly well with the bread (the bread was the highlight). Having said that, this dish wouldn’t be hard to recreate at home at all.
Overall, I had a very pleasant lunch at Bread & Circus. The only reason why I wouldn’t come back as often as I would like is their price – $20 for a breakfast plate is pretty steep. Nonetheless, evidently that has not deterred hungry weekend diners – it’s proof that many people are willing to pay a premium for their weekly dose of hipster-ness nowadays.
