Hurricane’s Grill is a household name in Sydney for its finger-licking-good ribs and steaks. We used to travel all the way to Bondi and were willing to wait hours in line just so that we could get our hands dirty on these seductive ribs.
Since then, Hurricane’s Grill has expanded considerably and they now have 4 restaurants and 3 “express outlets” in Sydney. I tried Hurricane’s Express at Waterloo for the first time and I was quite impressed.

What I loved: The ribs. Efficiency.
Will I come back: Yes.
The setup is just like a fast food joint where orders are made over the counter. After you have paid for your meal, you will receive a device that beeps when your meal is ready for collection.
The menu. I wish they sell 1/4 rack ribs because the 1/2 rack is just too much for me and quite pricey for what is supposed to be a casual dinner.
My half rack pork ribs, $29.95. The ribs are basted in the famous Hurricane’s basting until caramelised and full of flavours. The meat pulls right off the bones, still tender and moist.
The ribs and steaks come with a side of baked potato, chips (potato or sweet potato) or coleslaw.
I felt guilty having a half-rack on a weeknight, so I opted for the baked potato as a half-hearted attempted to make the healthy decisions (I could’ve chosen coleslaw…but I really didn’t want to). However, as soon as I saw my baked potato, I regretted not getting the chips! At that moment, I vowed to always follow my cravings and not the angel on my shoulder when ordering food…
New York striploin, $19.99 (200g). Jen got the sweet potato chips but I didn’t quite like them because they tasted like frozen sweet potatoes.
The steak was not bad.
