I was really looking forward to trying Suzuya because Jen told me that their salad is as big as a fishbowl and their set menus are as generous as Sushi Suma‘s. Really?

The first thing the waiter brought to our table was a little bowl of complimentary vermicelli. How nice.
The Menu.
Their set menu has excellent value and the best thing is that you are allowed to share the set menu. Jen and I ordered one set menu ($29.90) and a Kaiso Salad to share.
The Kaiso Salad (mixed seaweed salad with Japanese style dressing), $12.8. The salad literally came in a bowl that’s deeper than some vases I have at home.
We also got a side of complimentary edamame – but the generosity didn’t stop here.
It’s seriously huge!
Set menu side: Agedashi Tofu.
Even though we only ordered one set menu to share, they still gave us two agedashi tofu! The tofu was beautifully done. I loved the slightly crusty skin and the silky texture within.
Set menu entree: Sushi.
Set menu second: Croquette.
The size of the croquettes was substantial and filled with creamy and chunky potato inside. By the time we finished our croquettes, we were already very full….but we hadn’t even had the main and the rice yet!
Set menu main: Teriyaki Beef.
Again, very generous portion. However, I personally liked Sushi Suma‘s teriyaki beef over Suzuya’s.
Overall, I was very impressed with Suzuya. The interior was comfortable and new, the meal itself was enjoyable and we each took a full box of takeaway salad and teriyaki beef home!
