Ok, let’s just cut to the chase: Holy Basil does the best fried ice-cream in Sydney.

Holy Basil branched out from their original restaurant in Canley Heights to the Sydney CBD a few years ago. It’s located right inside the Shark Hotel.
Holy Basil’s menu with helpful pictures.
Stir-fried Cashew Nuts with Beef (stir-fried seasonal vegetables topped with cashew nuts with your choice of meat), $13.90.
Ox Tongue (marinated grilled ox tongue thinly sliced and served with Holy Basil’s dipping sauce), $11.90. Beautifully grilled with just the right hint of char and a whole lot of flavours.
Panang Curry Chicken (thick curry made up of small amount of coconut milk, sweet basil, kaffir lime leaves and read chillies), $13.90. This was pretty mild.
Green Curry Vegetables (classic base of chilli paste, sweet basil, kaffir lime leaves, galangal with seasonal veges), $11.90.
Roast Duck Red Curry (premium roast duck, lychees, pineapple, cherry tomato, sweet basil, fresh chillies, kaffir lime leaves), $17.90.
My favourite curry! The duck itself was exquisite, and it balanced so well with the curry flavours and the pieces of lychees and pineapple.
Fresh Crispy Snapper and Mango Salad (fresh large snapper fried and served on a bed of green mango salad with Holy Basil dressing), $44.90.
Another “must-order” for us. Yes, it’s a whole fish covered with a mountain of salad.
The fish was deep fried in chunks, which made it super easy to enjoy. The generous shreds of salad made every mouthful ever so refreshing.
Pad Thai (stir-fried rice noodles with bean sprouts, egg, garlic, chives, Spanish onion and crushed peanuts sauce with your choice of meat), $13.90.
You can’t come to Holy Basi without having their Holy Basil Fried Ice-Cream. It’s vanilla ice-cream wrapped in deep fried golden pastry and served with special caramel sauce and coconut crunchies, $13.90.
Hands down, nobody does fried ice-cream better than Holy Basil.
