I walked out from Rabbit Hole Organic Tea that rainy Sunday afternoon, smiling, skipping with joy.

Welcome to The Rabbit Hole Organic Tea. I already knew that I would love this place as I peaked through the glass doors.
What a lovely, lovely place.
The Rabbit Hole’s menu. They have a wonderful selection of organic and exotic tea.
I usually avoid ordering tea at cafes because I find it a waste of money (a tea bag and a pot of hot water? I can make that at home). However, it’s different at the Rabbit Hole – they have lots of blends that I had never seen before, and I actually wanted to try everything on their tea menu!
Avocado, edamame and sprouts with Sencha dressing topped toast, $13. It had me at Sencha dressing. It was a perfectly clean and fresh combination of green veggies topped with pink flower petals. I loved every bite of it.
Tea marbled egg with kimchi, kale and black sesame topped toast, $13. What a lovely sight. The flavours were slightly stronger than the other toast we ordered because of the kimchi. Having said that, the kimchi was not overpowering and the whole dish still balanced out pretty well.
The marbled egg was a genius touch. However, as Mike and I grew up in Taiwan (where marbled tea eggs are literally sold on every corner of the streets), we set our marbled eggs standard quite high. The verdict? Decent, but the tea flavour did not soak through the egg quite enough.
- Where else to get marbled tea eggs in Sydney? We had some at Pu’er earlier in the year. Click [here] for my blog post.
The tea being brewed on the central island.
Jasmine tea, $5. I wanted to order something more special…but this was the recommended tea they paired my avocado toast with on the menu so I thought I would give it a try. No surprises there, but nice and aromatic.
The tea came with an hourglass and a designer pot. If you want to prevent the tea from over-brewing in the tea pot, just twist the cap on top of the pot and it will quarantine the tea leaves to a side and stop brewing – brilliant!
Matcha latte (premium stoneground green tea), $5.50. It was served in this cute little mug with a bunny’s tail! Every detail in this cafe was so creative and artsy.
It took me forever to decide what to get for dessert. Everything looked amazing and I wanted to try them all!
I first saw a photo of Rabbit Hole’s Lavender Shortbread on @juliejul‘s instagram. I promptly went the next day for it. It must be the most photogenic shortbread in Sydney! As for the taste, it was just a tad on the sweet side, but it was a good treat.
Grey Rabbit Choc Cake, $8. It’s not just a chocolate ganache cake, it’s an Earl Grey tea infused chocolate ganache cake! Although I didn’t quite taste the Earl Grey, it was no doubt a good piece of chocolate cake.
Want to take things up a notch? How about a dessert degustation with 4 specially made desserts paired with 4 tea. I am definitely keen to try this.
