I’ve only been to Old Town Hong Kong Cuisine once, but I have already dubbed it my new favourite place to have a decent, yet affordable, Chinese feast. Everything was impeccable – from the high quality decor, to the vast menu choices, to the execution of the dishes. Old Town is the perfect place to grab a quick bite or organise a gathering with old friends.
【Sydney Food】Samosorn Chat Thai
For all the Thai food lovers in Sydney, great news – there’s now a brand new Thai eatery by the glorious Chat Thai (click me), tucked away in the Pitt Street Myer food court: Samosorn.
【Sydney Food】Ms.G’s
We finally went to Ms.G’s.
I had heard good things about this place, and I had expected it to be good since it’s been awarded one chef’s hat three years in a row from 2012. However, I had always put off coming here because: I always have my doubts when I see “Asian fusion“. As an Asian, those two words usually translate to “overpriced“, “small portion” and “unauthentic” to me — Fortunately, Ms.G’s was none of those things. I left Ms.G’s feeling utterly satisfied and very impressed.
【Sydney Food】Yayoi
Edit: It is with heavy heart that I am downgrading my review for Yayoi after our latest visit on 4 September 2015. It was a disaster.
【Sydney Food】Sunee’s Thai Canteen
We came to Sunee’s Thai Canteen to celebrate a colleague’s recent admission to the Supreme Court of NSW as a solicitor. Wohoo, welcome to the club.
We let her pick the lunch venue because she is coeliac and is on a strict gluten-free diet. We ended up at Sunee’s Thai Restaurant, and I was pleasantly impressed with our gluten-free meal!
【Sydney Food】Three Williams
Three Williams has been on the “Talk of the Town” chart on Urbanspoon for quite some time now, and it seemed like the whole of the Sydney foodie population had eaten there already. Today, on a gloomy Saturday morning, Mike and I finally made our way there.
Even though their photogenic French toast was very impressive, unfortunately, the overall experience was a hit-and-miss for us.
【Sydney Life】Sydney Fish Market .::Seafood lovers’ heaven::.
Sydney Fish Market is the largest fish market of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Well, usually I shrug off any “largest/best/only in the Southern Hemisphere” claims because, really, we don’t have much competition down under. But take this: Sydney Fish Market is the third largest fish market in terms of variety in the world. Now, that’s impressive.
【Sydney Food】Fisherman’s Wharf
If you are ever looking for yum cha with good atmosphere, Fisherman’s Wharf is the place to go.
【Sydney Food】Pho Toan Thang
Pho Toan Thang is my dear friend Jen’s favourite Pho in Sydney. She studied at the Lidcombe campus of our Uni, Sydney University, and has been coming here ever since.
【Sydney Food】An Restaurant
I first heard about An Restaurant a few years back from a good uni friend, George, who had since relocated to Asia. It was a week before his departure, one day, he told us he’d like to have his last bowl of the best Pho in Sydney before he left, so he drove us all the way to Bankstown — Unfortunately, it was during the Chinese New Year holidays and it was closed.
Too sad for George, but thanks to him, we now know where to get the best Pho in Sydney! [Read more…]
