As a potato lover, I felt overwhelmingly spoiled for choice when I first visited Mad Spuds – potatoes are the common denominator in almost every, single, dish. Baked potato, crispy potato skins, potato cake, potato bread, potato pancake, hash browns… you name it!

What I love: Potatoes, potatoes, potatoes!
Will I come back: Yes.
Mr Potato Head and his family. Sorry, terminating you is my destiny. I love you too much!
The menu. Mad spud is seriously true to its name – everything has potatoes in them!
Boxty (a traditional oven-roasted Irish potato pancake with mustard and sage served with crispy bacons, white pudding, avocado, fried egg and apple puree), $16.
Mad Spud stack (crispy potato cake, haloumi, avocado, spud skins, sweet potato, roasted onion and mint yoghurt) (v), $15.
Whacko taco (Mexican style beef, avocado, house chilli and sour cream), (g), $15.
Avocado & Tomato (with grilled haloumi, baby rocket and extra virgin olive oil on Guiness rye), (v), $12.50.
Irish breakfast (with pork sausage, black and white pudding, crispy bacon, baked beans, hash browns, soda bread, potato bread and eggs), $18. This is the only dish that I don’t quite like, noted that it is also significantly more expensive than the other dishes.
Potato nachos (crispy spud skins, spiced Mexican beef or beans, smashed avocado and sour cream), (g, vo, vegan), $15. Potato nachos, simply brilliant! Two of my favourite things combined.
The vegan one comes with beans, and the normal one come with Mexican beef.
Coffee and juices.
