Pancakes on the Rocks is one of the few 24/7 restaurants in Sydney. We came here quite regularly in our younger days, always after big night outs (mainly because we couldn’t afford Golden Century back then).
For Sydneysiders, this is the go-to place for thick, fluffy and heart-warming pancakes at any hour of the day. For tourists, Pancakes on the Rocks has become a must-do experience with its instagram-worthy steak, ribs and pancakes at the heart of The Rocks.

What I loved: The Devil’s Delight pancake.
Will I come back: Definitely when I have cravings for pancakes.
There is always a queue. With a crowd like this, the average waiting time would be at least 20 minutes.
Pork Ribs (a rack of grilled pork ribs served with golden potato wedges and mixed lettuce), $29.95.
Beef ribs (marinated and grilled beef ribs served with golden potato wedges and mixed lettuce), $29.95.
Grilled eggplant pizza, $14.95. Their pizzas are very reasonably priced, perfect for sharing after a crazy night out when sobering up.
Fresh Mushroom Crepes (sliced button mushrooms and onions in creamy white sauce, served on basil cream sauce and topped with sour cream), $14.95. Both L and I didn’t like this as it tasted rather bland.
And of course, the pancake. My favourite is the photogenic Devil’s Delight (chocolate pancakes with strawberries, cream, chocolate ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce), $14.95. I like the special chocolate pancake stack (yes the whole thing black!) that never fails to impress.
The menu. They also have an all-day breakfast pancake menu.
Pancakes on the Rocks used to be one of my favourite restaurants (not sure if it’s because I was young and almost always came under the influence of alcohol back in the days?). However, my experience with its service and quality of food has somewhat deteriorated over the years. Frankly, as a Sydneysider that is spoiled for choice when it comes to food, I am not a fan of their savoury dishes. Nevertheless, I still bring my overseas friends here because the menu offers a great selection of a bit of everything, especially crowd pleasers like steak, ribs and pancakes, for my tourist friends to tick off their Aussie to-eat list and take some saliva-inducing photos to make their Facebook friends jealous.
