As soon as I saw the chalkboard menu at Something for Jess, I could feel that they really believe in sourcing the freshest and seasonal local produce for their customers. Apart from extensively listing out every ingredient used in each dish, there was even a “Produce of the Week” board showing where the food had come from.

What I loved: The seasonal menu.
Will I come back: Maybe.
Their only menu is written on the chalkboard wall.
“Autumn Feast Burger” with pulled slow cooked ox tail, smoked chilli & roasted Jerusalem artichoke puree, caramalised leeks, bilpin honey roasted pumpkin, grated beetroot, smoked mozzarella cheese, $15. The beef was very tender.
As you can see, the description is very extensive for each main dish.
“Jess’ Vegetable Harvest” with lime roasted cauliflower, tomato, homemade fig puree, dried seeds, basil pesto, brussel sprout, grated pecorino cheese on toast (V), $15.
“Free Range Double Smoked Ham Bruschetta” with sesame seeds and roasted red plum sauce, fresh avocado, braised mushroom, fresh oxheart tomato, salsa verde, ground pistachio, mashed Greek feta, organic poached egg, $16.5.
What a beautiful mess. I would have preferred the bacon to be less thick and chewy, though.
Today’s special: Buttermilk pancake with sesame ice cream. It was such a brilliant choice of ice cream flavour. The buttermilk pancake was dense and not too sweet, which went really well with the sesame ice cream.
Cappuccino in rustic tea sets.
Juice of the day: watermelon pineapple juice.
Muffins and sandwiches at the counter.
Overall, I was happy with the friendly service and fresh food that we had at Something for Jess.
