Sushi Tengoku in Japanese literally translates to “Sushi Heaven”. It is a bold name for a restaurant, but there is really no other way to describe the warm and fuzzy feeling that I get whenever I savour a mouthful of sushi at Sushi Tengoku.
Each bite temporarily teleports me to a euphoric universe so beautiful that I feel like I have traveled to heaven and back.

The restaurant itself is homey and unassuming (borderline shabby).

Soft Shell Crab Roll (deep fried crab, fish roe, mayo, avocado and lettuce), $15.
The freshly deep-fried softshell crab always comes out piping hot. The crunchy texture of the tempura batter covers the soft centre of the crab, together it gets rolled in an impeccable combination of sushi rice, freshly shredded vegetables and seaweed that smells like sea breeze…heaven.
Salmon Tengoku Maki (8 pieces of salmon, avocado and mayonnaise roll), $12.
So simple, so fresh, so heavenly.
Aburi-Salmon ($7.5, 2 pieces) & Aburi-Scallop ($8, 2 pieces).
Are you ready to take heaven to the next level? The melt-in-your-mouth aburi-salmon and aburi-scallop will bring you wings. My absolute favourite sushi in the entire world and heaven.
Hawaii Roll (avocado, masago and crabstick inside out topped with salmon aburi), $16.
Tamago (tasty egg), $3 (per piece). The thickest, biggest and tastiest tamago egg that I have had in Sydney.
Yep, they are almost the size of an iPhone 4S!
Avocado Maki, $6.
This was for my vegetarian friend, $6 was more than reasonable.
Yasai Roll (selection of fresh vegetables, lettuce, cucumber and mayonnaise), $12.
Sushi Tengoku now also offers lunch bento. Following the Sushi Tengoku tradition,the food portion in the bento is also very generous.
Bento Kensington (California roll + takoyaki + salad + main choice of chicken karaage), $13.
Chirashi Bento (with California roll + takoyaki + agedashi tofu), $14.5.
