Pho Toan Thang is my dear friend Jen’s favourite Pho in Sydney. She studied at the Lidcombe campus of our Uni, Sydney University, and has been coming here ever since.

What I loved: The Pho.
What I didn’t: The queue.
Will I come back: Yes.
This is a photo of Pho Toan Thang when it’s not as busy. Yep, I’ve seen a queue much worse than this one!
Their menu is quite big and has all sorts of typical Vietnamese and Chinese dishes.
My dad tried the crispy chicken rice and chicken Pho before, but they didn’t really stand out.
Being a big Pho fan as I am, I always just stick with the raw beef noodle soup.
Very generous serving of basil and beans sprouts, and you could ask for more if you need more but they usually give you plenty. They would also ask you if you want your beans sprouts cooked or raw. I always ask for cooked as I don’t particularly like its raw crisp texture in my Pho.
Mike always tsk-tsk me when I don’t add my beans sprouts in my Pho – although I don’t know why he complains because it means he gets the whole plate, hehe.
This is exactly the type of meat that I like – thin and neat slices of lean beef. The soup is full of flavour and rich, although a tad saltier than how I like it.
Ok, so my verdict: If I could only choose one Pho to have as my last meal, I would go for the Pho at An Restaurant. However, as Bankstown is so much further away than Flemington from my place, if I was just after a bowl of good Pho, I would be more than satisfied with Pho Toan Thang. Plus, at $9 for a bowl of raw beef noodle soup ($9.50 for cooked beef noodle soup), it is much more value-for-money than An Restaurant and any other Pho places in Sydney.
