Jervis Bay is the home to the world’s whitest beach and is one of my favourite places on Earth. Luckily, it’s only a 2.5hrs drive from Sydney.
Interestingly, it’s in itself a Territory of Australia since 1915 to give the Federal capital an “access to the sea”. So when you hear people say there are 6 States and 10 Territories in Australia, one of the Territories is indeed the Jervis Bay Territory!

Accommodation
I believe a big factor that made both of my visits to Jervis Bay as amazing as they were was our choice of accommodation. We stayed at the comfortable By the Beach B&B on both occasions. The B&B’s owned by a lovely retired couple, Greg and Jan, and we could tell that they really put in a lot of effort in the place.
It’s well-maintained, decorated with tasteful simplicity and very cosy. The B&B’s kitchen was well equipped, with a stove, dishwasher and microwave.
Guests have a choice of single or double beds.
Breakfast ingredients were left by the door every morning for us.
Of course, it’s always fun sharing a place to stay with the Kangaroos!
They like Greg and Jan’s backyard so much, I had seen quite a number of them on both of my visits.
A joey, too!
Another great feature of By the Beach B&B is, as its name suggests, it’s right by the beach!
Palm beach is the beach accessible by foot through their backyard stairs. The water here is calm and shallow, suitable for children and a family fun day out . The jellyfish in there could seem a bit scary (there were so many of them when we went in September 2009), but they are not harmful.
Palm beach is completed with BBQ facilities and picnic area. We just brought the plates and glasses from upstairs and started cooking! Groceries and meat could be bought from the supermarket nearby at Sanctuary Point or Huskisson.
Picnic with a view, completed with proper plates, cutlery and glassware.
Hehe.

What to eat
If you’re looking for something different, try Stone Grill at Huskisson. They had the $29 3-course lunch when we went, it was great food with fantastic value!
The entree: Garlic prawns.
The main: steak cooked on a hot plate! The meat was of good quality, and of course it’s cooked to perfection because you’re your own chef. It also came with a side dish of pasta salad.

Beach hopping
Murrays Beach.
Murrays beach.
Murrays beach. Hello wallaby!
I forgot the name of this beach. I’ll just call it “the beach Jim took us to”.
Sunset at the beach Jim took us to.
Hayms beach. LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. I’d never seen the sand sooo white in my life, it’s snow white and was almost blinding. I have no doubt this place has the whitest sand in the world.
Do bring a pair of sunnies!
