I have had mix feelings for En Casa. A few years ago, it was the “go-to” Spanish tapas place in the city amongst our friends. However, we stopped going for a while after we had two rather disappointing visits in a year.
We gave it another chance this year for Ju’s birthday, and I was pleasantly surprised at the food quality. Unfortunately, service was a bit lacking. Nevertheless, in all fairness, the staff were all pretty friendly when they actually noticed/remembered us.
—–HER{curio}MAJESTY SCORE SHEET—–
Visited: Multiple visits. Review and photos based on 10 November 2014 (for dinner).
Food: 7.5/10 || Ambiance: 7.5/10 || Service: 6/10
What I loved: Portion and variety of tapas.
Will I come back: Yes.
There’s only one level, but the restaurant is quite spacious with more space at the back including several large tables. It’s suitable for casual gatherings and parties.
Sangria! They have both normal and white sangria, yum.
A tip is to always order the paella as soon as you sit down… Because it take 45 minutes for it to cook it fresh for you! The chicken and seafood paella here is $25 per person/serving, and we ordered two servings between the 6 of us so we could have more tapas.
Patatas bravas (tapa size), $10.50. As a potato lover, this is my must-have at any Spanish tapas restaurants.
Grilled baby octopus (tapa size), $15. This was done beautifully.
Garlic bread, $6.
Pizza (pepperoni, jalapeno peppers, onion, olives), medium, $18.
Beef meatballs in almond sauce, $13. Very flavoursome and juicy, highly recommended.
Omelette with spinach and pine nuts (4 eggs), $14. This was delicious! Fluffy and perfectly pan fried, also highly recommended.
